I have an Mondeo Mk3 2.ghia auto saloon
The central locking works only with the fob ,the interior door buttons do nothing, and the interior boot switch has stoped working,it locks and unlocks fine with the fob.
do i need to replace the central locking module.where is this located?,or could it be another part i need to change.

i would hazard a guess at the drivers door lock module with that little list of faults ( if thats not telling the central locking module its unlocked properly ( it says it well enough for the other doors to unlock but the main unit does not like what it hears ) then the main unit remains in a locked state & wont let the boot be opened by any other way than the remote )

I was wondering that... How can i unlock the boot from the interior button when the doors are locked, But still not allow
the exterior button to open it.

I haven't had time to strip the drivers door,so the garage i took it to last week were saying its the central locking unit, without a doubt and it would cost over ÂŁ400,
however i will take your advise and replace the door mechanism and locking module, any pictures or guides available as to what the module looks like,i have a Haynes manual and there is nothing in that mentioning door module.

I'm not sure if there's a specific guide but it's just a case of removing door card and unbolting the mech and swapping them over. ÂŁ20 from a scrappy for the mech and it can be done in an hour.

ÂŁ400???? I'll do it for ÂŁ200

Its the entire drivers door lock. Catch mechanism etc. All one unit in the drivers door.

Got a problem with my 2001 mk3 mondeo tddi, I pressed the unlock button on my 3 button remote and all the windows went down, I got in used the drivers door switch to close all the windows then moved my car from the side of the road to the drive. I pressed the lock button twice to make the signal lights flash (double lock I think its called) now my fob doesn't work and I can only get into the car using the key in the lock, when I unlock the car the front doors unlock only, when locking the car I can hear the motors working in the rear doors and the boot, boot can only be accessed by turning the key. I have tried changing the fob battery for a new one and its had no effect, I have tried the reset (switching between point 2 and point 3 four times till get audible beep then press the unlock button for 4 seconds) to no avail. ANY IDEAS?????

Sticky unlock button on the fob. Or the buttons failed completely.

Try a new fob 1st.

the windows dropping is a sure sign of a stuck button as this is what you do to engage the global opening/closure set up :)

The drivers door lock controls the locking. With all the issues you have i would change that 1st.

Or you may have several issues. Faulty fobs/batteries check the unlock switches.

Faulty external boot switch or wiring which is the same feed as the internal button so normal

for both to pack up at the same time.

Try padding the circuit board with a little paper inside the remote key fob so when you press the buttons it makes a quicker contact.
